Dearest BPYs...Following what Ali (xbpy04) had said on the tagboard, i suddenly have this brilliant idea... why not write advice column for all of you ;) he he he... lets see.... (and PYs you are more than welcomed to edit and add or reduce. Same goes to the other xBPYs).. ALSO leave comments... This is your blog :) do what you can...
- Always try to be on time for training. Its good practice for the ship.
- When you are going to be late, please inform your buddy who should inform the discipline AND YL/AYL.
- Get to know your buddy.
- For the girls, try and get comfortable shoes and walk in it NOW. Break it. No heels higher then 2 inch.
- Try and organize your thoughts for souviners, e.g. for friends, room mates, host families, admin, etc. You can do it individually, or by SG or by Contingent. Last year, I gave my foster families baju kurong and baju melayu. You can also give 1 cents worth of 10 cents wrapped in organza.
- Stock up on credit for DST Easi or B.Mobile prepaid users...
- Even better, try using public phones or get the local SIM card for economical use.
Label you stuffs. - Change all your money into US Dollars. Its the easiest and most readily available.
Remember to bring all your insurance and travel policies with you. Either NL or YL should hold on to it. - Make a video of your dance routine, so you remember the steps..
- Make sure you practice your dances at home! I practice even in the clinic :P
Camera! Camera! Camera! Take pictures of anything and everything. Use digital if possible. Its more economical. - Always share your pictures with friends...
- Have an open attitude towards criticism given by your NL/YL/AYL or sub-head of committees. They know what they are talking about.
- Be spontaneous and outrageous as you want, without being too 'out' of it... preserve the good name of your contingent ;)
- Don't forget to bring your name cards everywhere and give it away to your 'friends'.
- Always remember to visit the contingent board several times a day to check on changes. If you are aware of changes, please inform and remind your buddy and/or friends.
- JANGAN "tayang-tayang"kan duit awda.
- Smile always. You don't know when the camera is going to click away.
- Bring your own medication enough for the travelling period, should you be on certain medication. If possible, do not share medication.
- Bring basic needs only. You don't need 5 pyjamas. But you do need at least 5 pair of socks.
- Bring "anti-bacterial" or cloth freshener for your Attire A1 and others.
- Always wear your name tag (unofficial) in the ship for identification.
- Practice your cheers.
- Learn your flags.
- Prepare for your flag hoisting ceremony. Plan what you want to do.
- Bring "brain" food or necessary food.
- UNLOAD almost everything when your ship land in Brunei.
- ALWAYS listen to each other. Keep quiet when someone is talking. You save time this way.
Please add more if you have any.. I have to think about it more....
GOOD LUCK!
